Gilded Oak Vessel

This vessel has been made in collaboration with a local artist and friend, Danni Bradford.

 The vessel is made from old Sussex Oak and 24kt Italian gold. The tree was felled at the order of the owner due to their dislike of the leaves on the lawn during the winter months. Mills charred the vessel to the point of cracking, an intentional act. Once charred Danni Bradford spent time gilding the cracks with 24kt gold leaf. Layers of gold leaf were slowly applied to the filled cracks resulting in a beautifully textured gold surface.
